A bunch of things ....
Jun 26, 2006
Well, a lot has happened since last Friday. We met with the cake lady (yeah, she's won cake awards on the Food Network!), got our invitations narrowed down, talked with the priest, met Hoger for lunch, and then jetted of to Nebraska Furniture Mart to get some stuff so Christi wasn't living in an empty townhome in Colorado. This was my first experience to NFM. My parents are regular customers, but the only time I was there was to pick up an order at one of the warehouses. Needless to say, and those who have been know this, the place is massive. It's seriously big. Good thing this place has a good reputation because the prices there were amazing. First we started out and found a nice bedroom set downstairs. It was a floor model, so we got it at a discount. I would post a picture, but the company that we bought it from has one of the worst web sites that I've ever seen. So .... no picture.
Then we went back upstairs and started to pick out a dining room table. We saw a very nice black one with a leaf in the middle, and then I spotted an AMAZING glass one for only 30 dollars more. It had the same number of chairs, was a bigger table, and was really modern. The only bad thing was that the table was actually too large for the space in the townhome, so we went with the black one. [picture]
The only thing left was to pick out a couple of sofas that we liked for the living room. I remembered seeing some cool black synthetic leather ones as we made our way over to the dining room tables. About an hour later debating on the accessories that we wanted, we decided to get the sofa and love seat. [picture]
We didn't like the table and lamps that came with it, so we used the money for that set, and put it towards a really cool coffee table that we both liked. [picture]
Once that was all done with, I came home and went to play baseball. I kept my hitting streak alive (a hit in all 12 games i've played in). That's right, only 44 more until I reach DiMaggio. The game went well, and we are on pace to make it to Haymarket. I would be super excited right now because I have a chance at making the championship game there as well as an outside chance at the all-star game. The only reason that I'm a little disappointed is because I cracked my bat during my last game. Hopefully the streak will continue with a new one. [picture]
Cross your fingers
Jun 22, 2006
Ben's traveling across our great country again. Wish him a safe trip this time. While you're at it, you might want to keep crossing your fingers for a Brave's win sometime too. Mine have been crossed for the last 10 games, but that sure hasn't helped. Hopefully it works for Ben.
Fire down below
I forgot to mention this. Around 2:45 p.m. on Tuesday, while I was working at Sandhills, the fire alarms went off. These things had all of the bells and whistles that Abel did without that voice reminding you, "Attention. Attention. An emergency has been reported."After getting out of the building and walking up the hill to do our department head count, we realized that it was taking a while, and this was no drill. Something was going on inside the building. As we waited around 10 minutes for the fire trucks to show up, we all thought it was pretty strange since they were located right down the street.
They came, and 30 minutes of a paid vacation standing on concrete in the 95° heat later, we were finally given permission to go back inside and complete our work. They said a motor burned up in the air conditioning unit above the ceiling tiles. This was fitting because on the exact same day, they had a safety meeting for our department (which details where to go in case of emergencies) AND the air conditioning people just arrived before it happened for their annual checks to make sure that stuff like that doesn't happen.
HUGE NEWS!!!!
Jun 16, 2006
As many of you know, Christi and I were just recently in Colorado on Target's dime. They built an amazing new store in Glenwood Springs, and really wanted Christi to work there (so much, that they even offered to fly me in as well!).After a couple of long days of deciding and trying to weigh every single option that we could, Christi finally called her boss and told him yes. So ...... this means we're moving to Colorado! First Christi (in August) and then me (in January).
I hope that everyone loves to ski because this little mountain town is absolutely beautiful. The Target is even built in a brand new addition to town that has the same feel that Village Pointe has in Omaha, but with a couple of bigger stores there.
So if you like snow skiing, rafting, biking, climbing .... you'll have to come out and visit us sometime.
We still have a couple of kinks to work out. These include not having a place to live (but that is hopefully getting taken care of), me finding a job in a smaller town with my major (still a ways away), and obviously, me getting rid of the Firebird so I can drive on the snow in the mountains. No one likes losing the car that they love, just ask this guy. I'll post some pics below, and hopefully get more on my actual picture page (yes, I still need to put NYC pics on there, I know).
So, that's it for now. Don't worry about us living in Colorado though. We might be a ways from home, but we'll always bleed Husker Red.
Hi! My name is .... (what?)
Miss out on the last lottery winning?Looking to pay off your college debts?
Well, this might be the easiest way to make $25,000 ever. No, it's no pyramid scheme, it's actually quite simple. All you have to do is answer the age old question, "what's in a name?"
Well, I would've submitted my chance at 25K, but I read his "about me" page, and saw the monk on roller blade pics and then noticed the "I'm a HUUUUGE Mets fan" quote at the bottom. I don't care how much money is involved .... I hate the Mets. No money is worth supporting a Mets fan. But if you don't have a problem like I do, try and give it a shot.
If you do submit something, be sure to comment what you came up with.
T-Shirt of the week
Jun 12, 2006

I couldn't believe this when I saw it .... but oh well. Probably won't be any posts for a while, not like there were many this last week, but I'm just sayin'. I'll be off to Colorado from Wednesday until Friday. Maybe I'll post some pics of the mountains courtesy of the laptop that Sandhills gave me!
Is it true what they say about Dixie?

Here's to the girl who lives on the hill.
She won't do it, but her sister will.
So here's to her sister ....

What Happened?
Jun 4, 2006
The Huskers decided to end their season early yesterday. I think they won about 2 games in May. The worst part about the whole thing was that we got beat at home, in regionals, by two teams with horrible nicknames. How do you lose to the Jaspers and then follow up by being sent home (in a matter of speech) by the Dons.
The only thing more embarrasing would've been if we got beat by the Hatters or the Billikens. Either that, or if we could've seen our center fielder spike a ball in the ground again.
Angels With Our Outfielder
Jun 2, 2006
No more than 20 minutes after my last post, Adam came in and woke me up with some shocking news. He said that late on Thursday night, Ben was driving towards St. Louis and he saw a semi truck coming at him pretty fast. Once he saw it a couple of seconds later, he veered sharply to get out of the way. The truck plowed through other cars that were close to him, and spun him out of the way of the truck.Apparently the truck killed some people in the 6 car collision. Ben was extremely lucky that he only suffered a separated shoulder and some other minor injuries. Steph's dad came and picked him up, and I guess they are all safe in Kansas City right now.
It sounds like the Mazda is totaled, some golf clubs were crushed, but this is probably the least of his and his families worries.
Everyone here is sad for the others, but relieved to know that Ben is still with us. Adam said it best: "I know that we just lost our roommate here .... but I never thought that we would really lose him."
All thoughts and prayers extended to Ben and his family.
Early web news story.
Get Ready For It
As people are reading this, Ben and Ken are driving across the United States to drop Ben off in the real world. That was nice that his dad went down with him. Big news that ben has been waiting for though: Carolina is competing for Lord Stanley's Cup. He told me that he was willing to pay to go to a Stanley Cup game, and at first I thought it was weird since he's really not the hockey type o' guy. Then I thought about it, and it would be one of those things, as a sports fan, to check off that huge list that everyone has in their head. Obviously, it's not as big as a World Series game, but it'd still be cool to see. I'm sure this is the order I'd want to accomplish my list in:
1. World Series
2. NBA Championship
3. Stanley Cup
4. Super Bowl
2. NBA Championship
3. Stanley Cup
4. Super Bowl
