So Kansas beat up on us again. So what? I blame this horrible Big XII start on Steve Pederson. Your AD sets your non-conference games, and our strength of schedule was 330 out of 340 some teams. Absolutely horrible.
I can see why Doc is going absolutely mad (above), but it might not be all Stevey P's fault. The fact that a few years ago, Doc flew down to Australia to get Maric to come back to the states, might be a reason for this horrible Big XII start as well. He put up the almighty goose egg against #2 KU and is shooting a mere 25% in his past 2 games. He doesn't even take jump shots and he's still only at 40% for Big XII play.
I just need to keep convincing myself that he is absolutely horrible. You're 6'11" and you can't even score a point as a starting center ... sad.
Apparently ol' brianhelge.com was down for the past 1-2 days. I guess my un-narcissist ways prevented me from realizing this. It was either that, or the fact that I've done absolutely horrible on keeping the site fresh since the new year.
Beth was kind enough to tell Christi that the site was down. Thanks beth. You're the greatest (and only) sister-in-law I could ever have.
Looking into my stats for the past few days, I've been averaging a good number of people to the site. All of those onlookers, and only a horrible splash page awaiting them ...
I'm not sure what's worse: KU absolutely embarrassing the Huskers on Saturday, or getting a text message every 5 minutes from someone saying, "You're on ESPN!"
As we could see the live screens in front of the announcers, Brian and I tried our best to wait for commercials to answer our cell phones so we didn't act like those people behind home plate when watching MLB games.
So, after hearing a ton of people say I was on ESPN (in HD, no less), my sincere apologies go out to my ugly mug being shown in 1080p. Also, I feel responsible for NU losing after bringing a KU fan to the game.
A one dollar bet doesn't seem like it's high stakes, but to Ben and I, there's more than the money to be won during our bets. I'm not sure if we ripped off the idea from
Trading Places, or if we're just that cheap, but over the past four years or so, the dollar has been the only wager.
Ben has been pretty high on how good Maric is, and I think he's pretty bad, so we decided to throw a few quarters down on how good he really is. The bet will be if Maric gets picked up by a team in the '08 NBA draft. Initially it was if he would go first round, but I believe if a GM picks him up at any time, he won't have his job the next day.
My thought is that Maric will spend his days playing in Europe with Cookie Belcher and Jason Dourisseau. So, the Big XII season is upon us and a dollar wager is on the table. Maybe we should have bet on who scores more: KU football or KU basketball ...
