What's better than having front row mid court seats? Knowing that you'll be on TV three times a game (when Nebraska basketball is actually on TV), and rocking some sweet ESPN shirts for the camera.
From the left, it's Linda, mom and gma. There's someone else on the far left, but we won't give him credit since he's too cool to wear his ESPN shirt with the rest of the family.
Apparently the announcers noticed and talked to everyone for a little bit during the game.
Christi and I took a break from our busy weekend (cough, cough) to watch
Avenue Q during it's tour across America. Sure, we could have driven two hours to the city, but who wants to deal with traffic when they can just bring it to your place?
For those that don't know about the show, or haven't seen it, here's my best way to describe it in one sentence:
The Muppets meets
Rent ... but with more swearing and sexual innuendos. There's just something to be said about adults acting out with large hand puppets.
All in all, the show was terrific and we couldn't have been happier that we went. It was a little strange being some of the youngest people in the audience, but after watching the performance, it clearly made sense.
Be sure to check to see if it's
coming to a city near you. For those wondering, yes, it's coming to Omaha.
Our dog is crazy. This is something he does about every other day and we finally got it on film. We like to call it the rodeo because it looks like he's trying to buck when he's spinning around in circles. Not sure exactly why or how this started, but it's a regular occurrence in the Helge household.
To me, there was no better way to start the new year. With the weeks leading up, there was nothing but talk about how good Clemson's defense is (which it was) and how their two-headed running back system would destroy a weak Nebraska defense. Davis and Spiller combined for only 43 yards as the entire team was held to four yards for the day and on the other side of the ball, Castille averaged more yards per carry (6.9) than Clemson had rushing yards.
It was good to see the little guy getting some love in the last game.
Castille was thought to be only a short yardage back and not provide any sustainability behind Lucky and Helu, Jr.
Henery, a guy who completed and made as many FG in the past two games as he did all last year showed us that we have nothing to worry about in the kicking game for years to come.
Hagg comes out of nowhere to provide two huge goal line stops and
O'Hanlon, who many questioned why he was starting at the beginning of the year, comes up with the biggest defensive play of the game by knocking down a sure touchdown with 1:45 left to play. So what was the biggest offensive play of the game (I continued this paragraph so I can bold another name)? It was
Witt's non-fumble four yard scamper to set up a punt.
With the win, Pelini's only five straight bowl victories away from breaking Schnellenberger's current 6-0 mark. It's remarkable to think that Nebraska should have pitched shutouts in their
past two bowl games as they have given their opponent every point on turnovers.
Now we just need to find a way to transfer the winning ways to the hard court.
Happy new years everyone.
