What's wrong with this picture?

seward high all-state award
I completely forgot that I had this. Mom and dad brought it to me when they visited in December and I just recently found it while cleaning up the house (yes Christi, I'm cleaning while you're away).

  1. It's strange to receive this after I've been out of high school for almost seven years.
  2. I've already received all of my all-state awards, so this isn't to replace any of those.
  3. The year printed on this was my first year in college, not any year I attended goold ol' SHS.

Since baseball wasn't an official HS sport when I went there, maybe my amazing careers in cross country (*cough, cough) and soccer warranted a special award even when I wasn't in school. Either that, or this is my unofficial award for my baseball glory days. I'll have to follow up with Urban to make sure he received his as well ...

Stan continues to amaze

stanley eaten collar

Once you have a pet, you will have stories for the rest of your life. I'm glad I have this blog to write stuff down because our list is getting a little too long (and he's only one years old!). So far he's eaten my chocolate birthday cake, had a thorn stuck in his eye for a week, tried to attack water and gave us an audition tape for PBR if they ever come to town.

So out of all of that, what can he possible do to top it? Well, the picture above is of Stan's old collar. That's right ... the thing that goes around his neck. Where's the cloth part of it? My best guess would put it somewhere in his lower intestine as I type this.

Over the weekend, I put Stan in the kennel as I visited the world's largest casino for the day. Some time between when I left and when I returned, he was able to slip his collar off (which we leave lose, anyways) and eat it. Amazingly enough, he knew not to eat the metal clasp and Husker tag/rabies tag hanging off of it.

Everyone that we talk to says that labs calm down when they are two or three years old. The days can't go fast enough.
